Face For Rent

I recall some bad roommate stories, but this one was quite recent. The time I ended up renting out my face to someone. In hindsight I should have taken the time to learn more about this person, but they seemed really cool and easy to deal with, so I thought my new friend and I would get along just great. Turns out, I wasn't ready for someone else to be living in my face. What could I do, I had made the offer, so I let this new friend of mine move in, with all of their stuff.
But as I am sure you have guessed, my new friend turned out to be a horrible pain in the ass. They setup the living room just the way they wanted it, and even if I changed it back, they would just switch it around again. I'd go out, or to work, get home, and the place would be a mess. After a very short time, I was finished with this person, but getting them to leave turned out to be harder then I thought.
I'd come back home, and find this person hanging out in my face again. Changed the locks, warned the neighbors, and eventually this pest went away.

And I have learned my lesson, no more letting anyone just move right into my face. I try to be very careful who I let stay in my face. Sometimes you can't resist having a few friends over, I'm just trying to make sure they don't overstay their welcome.

Well that explains your changing profile pictures in Facebook. What Facebook does is kind of a problem, but I bet it's covered in the ToS.

People should know what they are getting into, particularly if they like installing all those cool 'friendly' applications from who are these application developers exactly? Oh yeah, anybody.
I don't know how many ways to explain it, but I think facebookers will need more than a Terms Of Service to start to grasp what the realities of these 'free' services really mean to them.
These new mediums are feature rich, and interactive, but I miss the old facebook. No, not the silly old facebook look, you know, the 'real' old facebook we used to call IRC. Those were actually free and open, without the hidden tax. Sure, it wasn't nearly as pretty as facebook, but it sure was raw and pure in content.

It's one reason I like Twitter so much. It reminds me of IRC. :)

Yes Kill Hup we are all renting out our faces, but let's not forget most of us are collecting tremendous rewards - some people even get paid in the best currency possible, sex.

so you are knowingly allowing others to market and profit off of your image, potentially branding you in ways you do not agree with (what if they used your image on facebook to advertise condoms to this girl you just hooked up with, complete with your picture and endorsement?)
Oh, okay then. Carry on. As long as you know what you are getting, who am I to say anything? I still use the service and probably will for a while, and realistically, I'm not even sure what I am getting into by sharing my life with facebook, but I can confirm it is not sex.

I think if you got sex from Facebook, your wife might have a problem with it. ;)
