Blind Unquestioning Trust

The first album I ever asked for as a child was Fleetwood Mac Rumors, (it was all over the radio at the time and everyone was playing it). I was probably about 6 or 7, and I remember asking my mom what the song 'Second Hand News' meant. Without missing a beat she told me it was about putting your cat outside to go to the bathroom.

The chorus goes something like 'Won't you lay me down in the tall grass and let me do my stuff'
She then proceeded to tell me the repeated word through the chorus was actually 'meow' as in "meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow' . . .etc, while the cat was cranking a loaf in the yard.

Listen to it, you will see what I mean.

Thanks to my mom's quick thinking, and her desire to avoid the sex talk with a 7 year old, I believed for years that Fleetwood Mac's song Second Hand News was about a cat taking a shit.

Great content Kelm, personable and compelling. Your blog is really becoming more and more story driven. Now I want to listen to that song again...
